Sydney 2000 Olympics Anniversary Celebration

We were excited to partner with Paddle Australia and the Australian Olympic Committee to deliver a Sydney 2000 anniversary event at Penrith Whitewater Stadium.

This was followed by a celebratory lunch at the Sydney International Regatta Centre. As you can see from the pictures below, we had a great turnout and our guests included our local MP, Melissa McIntosh, the Mayor and Deputy Mayor of Penrith, Ross Fowler and Karen McKeown, John Bateman as well as local business people and volunteers and staff from the Sydney 2000 Olympic games.

We all enjoyed a fabulous lunch served up by Vince Capolupo and his team at the Lakeside Restaurant which included video messages from the Honourable Stuart Ayres MP and the Fox family! A special mention for the Olympians including world champion, three-time Olympian and bronze medalist, Robin Bell, and Lucien Delfour who’s training hard for the Tokyo 202 (+1) Olympics.

It was great to catch up with others who made the “River of Dreams” happen, especially Peter Heeley and John Felton, who got the job done, and Helen Brownlee who showed courage and leadership at a critical moment to help bring canoe slalom to the Sydney 2000 games.

Keep the dream alive!

See Paddle Australia’s release about this event here and international media Inside the Games article here.

Finally, a big a shout out to our production team headed by Paddle Australia Media Manager,  Cora Zillich, with smooth Aidan Williams on video and the omnipresent John Rohloff of JRG Images on stills.
